What are the five variables important to consider before riding?
Kiteboarding offers challenges and rewards, which are quite unique and powerful. One the most important things to understand is the kite. Think about going down hill skiing/snowboarding for the first time. You start on the bunny hill, cruise around, then you go to some green trails and get the hang of it. The wipeouts hurt sometimes, so the first time you see a Black Diamond run, you know there is no way you are ready for it! It's obvious to you that you need to practice easier runs first, because that Black Diamond run is way to steep.....you can easily see that. In kiteboarding you start out blind, in the sense that you don't know enough to stop at the Black Diamond stuff. You have to be a knowledgeable kiteboarder to even know what a "black trail" looks, feels, and sounds like. If you don't understand the balance between five crucial variables, your going from the bunny hill to triple black diamond......then maybe to the hospital. The five variables are: the wind speed, your weight, your skill, kite size, and kite performance. If you don't have this equation dialed....you will get a spanking. Kiteboarding is an intellectual's extreme sport. Mixing the knowledge of wind and wing theories like sailing; with the hand eye coordination of intense kite flying. Now let's also go wakeboarding....with a side order of spankings. This, my friend, is kiteboarding. Go get it.
